Varicose
Veins Facts:-
-
Varicose veins occur when the valves
in the veins start to leak, allowing the blood to run back down the
vein instead of back up to the heart. When this happens the vein
becomes distended and visible.
-
Predisposing causes of varicose veins are age, gender (more common in
females), pregnancy, hereditary, race weight, posture and occupation.
-
About 10 - 15% of men and 20 - 25% of woman have varicose veins.
-
Varicose
Veins are not just a cosmetic problem. They can cause aching or
heaviness of the legs, swelling of the feet and ankles, and areas of
skin discoloration. At the worse, they can cause ulcers.
